What happens after a root canal procedure?

The first thing that happens is you feel happy to be pain-free! Occasionally the repaired tooth can be sealed off with a filling but usually Dr. Nguyen will recommend a dental crown to ensure the integrity of the tooth. Until the tooth is topped with a permanent restoration, avoid chewing on that side. If you experience a little tenderness for a day or two afterwards it can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.
